~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sunday Singing! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Check out Divinely Painted on Etsy! Yay! We set up shop!
This week, The Heart Beet reports on Sunday with a little tune straight from the heart! Mary Kent sings her heart out, sharing why we should all sing on Sunday!
Whether at home or in the pews at church, Sunday is the perfect day for singing! I've reported on the many benefits Soul Singing has on the mind, body, and spirit. And, was even lucky enough to get Sting's input from his heart on the matter. But, today, I woke up feeling extra cheery and in a singing state of mind and decided to get out my tune I recorded in Nashville, sing out loud, and share it with everyone! I'm definitely more of a writer than a singer, but something is so right when you allow your heart to sing out! It's SO good for you and Sunday is the perfect day to sing out for God! I'm pretty sure he likes us to sing praises to him!
Many of you have asked to hear the song I recorded in Nashville and I decided today is the day for y'all to hear it. I mean something about Sundays really do make me sing! The song is called Carolina Waltz. I wrote my part, which is the second part, and my brother-in-law's brother wrote the first. It's so fun, cute, and sweet! So, click away and enjoy it:
Anyone can sing! And, sing you should. But, Sunday is a day we should sing praises to God and honor the powers up above. I don't really know the names of many hymns, but I do love Lift High The Cross! That's a good one. And, I learned my grandmother's favorite hymn most recently which is Oh Jesus, I Have Promised! And, knowing that made me super happy! Even though I'm not really a hymn knower by heart, I seriously love music and lyrics that sing out to God. So, here are some of my favorite God praising tunes that will lift your spirits any old day. Not all of them are 'Christian Rock Bands', but I think they all do an excellent job of making God so very happy:
- Awake My Soul by Mumford Sons (My friend Chad gets FULL credit for telling me about this AWESOME song. I'd be a sad soul not knowing this song exists!)
- Light Up the Sky by The Afters
- Jesus Saves by Daniel Ahearn
- Dear Lord by Joseph Arthur
- Starry Night by Chris August
- Still by Great Lake Swimmers
- What Light by Wilco
- My Soul Sings by Delirious?
- Beautiful & All of Creation by MercyMe
- Firework by Katy Perry
- Lead Me by Sanctus Real
So, if you missed the health benefits on Soul Singing, you can click here! And, I'm ending on a song note I wrote that I think is peeerfect for Sunday. It's called Thank You! It's a country song that I recently wrote. Love to write songs! SO fun! One day I'll share it recorded and sing out loud. But, for now, voila:
Thank You
Written by Mary Kent Hearon
Lord you light my every way
U know my words and what I say
You know me both weak and strong
Guide me forever and all along
Thank you for loving all of me
Thank you for gifting what I see
Thank you for hell that I been through
Thank you for doing what you do
Lord, you light my every move
Always there with nothing to prove
You've got a power I just can't touch
Way up in heaven I know that much
Thank you for breathing through to me
Thank you for gifting what you see
Thank you for heaven that I been through
Thank you for doing what you do
Lord you light my every turn
Your blazing fire will ever burn
All these gifts I know you gave
I'd be a wreck but I know you save
Thank you for breaking into to me
Thank you for gifting what I see
Thank you for living what I been through
Thank you for doing what you do
Lord you light my every path
Helped through my grapes of wrath
I walk your way this much is true
Believed by many but followed by few
Thank you for all these gifts you gave
You gave me heart and made me brave!
You gave it good this much I know
I give a bow cause this is your show.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you now.
Thank you. Thank you I'm taking a bow.
I'm giving all right back to you.
It's not mine just my work to do.
Thank you. Thank you I'm taking a bow.
It's time to go. Au revoir for now.
It's time to let your heart sing to God! Please, please, please by all means, sing out loud and honor the heavens up above! Don't miss a Beet. Stay tuned for next week.
