Since this is the launching of The Weekly Beet, we felt it totally appropriate to dedicate this week's health tip to...yes, you guessed it... THE BEET!!!!
The health benefits of this little, heart shaped veggie are really hard to beet! Looking for a liver enhancer? Want to detox naturally? Trying to lose weight? You might consider adding beets to your diet:
- Grate them on salad.
- Saute beets with lemon juice and olive oil. You can even saute the beet greens!
- Are you into juicing? Add some beets to your carrot juice.

So, what's so special about the beet? They are packed with fiber and anti-oxidants. The pigment that gives beets their rich, purple-crimson color--betacyanin--is a powerful cancer fighting agent. Beets are effective against colon cancer and have demonstrated this in many scientific studies. Also, beets are excellent for weight loss, as they pull toxins out of the liver. The key to losing weight is to get that liver in shape. Sluggish livers make the process more difficult.
